Key Conversion In Vantagepoint
Project Key Conversion in Vantagepoint often refers to a project's number changing after the project is won. When a project is won, the primary project number WBS1
will automatically be modified by Vantagepoint.
WBS1
is the project number you will see in Mosaic, whereas the PreAwardWBS1 is just an identifier and is used primarily for traceability and historical use.
Below is an example of before and after a project is won, using example values. If a project has a number of R12345.67.89 before being won, it may have values that look like this:
Time | PreAwardWBS1 | WBS1 | Mosaic Project Number |
---|---|---|---|
Before Project is Won | R12345.67.89 | R12345.67.89 | R12345.67.89 |
After Project is Won | R12345.67.89 | 34184.01.08 | 34184.01.08 |
After a project is won, the WBS1
value is changed to the real project number, and the PreAwardWBS1
values stay. This is to ensure the continuity of projects and their traceability in Vantagepoint. On Mosaic, the project number will automatically update to the new WBS
number from Vantagepoint.
In some cases, the project in Vantagepoint will be converted to more than one active project in Vantagepoint (each having its own WBS1
) when the project is won. In this case, we will create and bring in each of those new projects into Mosaic as distinct projects, and they will be linked with their Vantagepoint counterpart.
The old project will still exist as active in Mosaic.
