Work Category to Subphase Conversion
Mosaic offers automated conversion for converting work categories (WC) and subphases (P). This documentation provides a clear understanding of these conversion processes.
How to Determine if You Should Convert Work Categories to Subphases
If your integrated application includes more than two levels of phases, it's recommended to convert all Work Categories to Subphases (with the exception of CSV Import and QuickBooks integrations).
If you are using Mosaic as a standalone product without any integrated applications and would like extra levels, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager regarding enabling the Subphases feature.
Example of a project with at least two levels of phases:
- Project: Mosaic Office
- Phase: Internal Renovation
- Subphase: Planning
- Phase: Internal Renovation
Enhancing Project Management Capabilities with Mosaic Subphases
By converting Mosaic Work Categories to Mosaic Subphases in scenarios where your source application utilizes multiple levels of phases, you can align your project management processes more effectively with Mosaic's structure. This will enable smoother project execution and better organization.
If you are utilizing Mosaic as a standalone product without any integrated applications and would like additional organizational levels, enabling the Subphases feature and converting your existing Work Categories into Subphases can further enhance your project management capabilities.
Here's why:
Understanding Project Phases in Mosaic:
A Project Phase represents a distinct stage within a larger project. It consists of specific tasks that contribute to the completion of the entire project. Project Phases are crucial for breaking down complex projects into manageable segments. This approach enhances team efficiency and ensures the successful execution of the entire project.
For more detailed information on Mosaic Phases, please refer to this documentation.
Understanding Subphases in Mosaic:
Mosaic Subphases function similarly to regular Mosaic Phases. They are Subphases underneath top-level Mosaic Phases and provide a structured way to manage your project.
Understanding Work Categories:
A Work Category in a Project serves as a method for organizing tasks into groups based on their purpose. It adds structure to your project and facilitates collaboration among team members. Each Work Category can be associated with a deliverable, such as a document, report, or presentation. This clarity ensures that all stakeholders understand their responsibilities within the project.
- Work Categories can be added to a Phase in one of two ways: manually, by selecting an existing Standard Work Category, or automatically, when a time entry is created with a Phase and Standard Work Category combination that hasn't been used before.
